The Battle for  National Food Production Program  to be Inaugurated by President Today 

National food production program (Jathika Aahara Nispadana Sangramaya ) under the theme “Ekwemu – Negitimu, Atukotu – Purawamu” will be inaugurated by the President Maithripala Sirisena  today(6) at Kekirawa,Thibbatu Wewa reservoir.  This programe which starts today will be completed  on 12^th October.

This program is launched with the joint participation of all the Ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Mahaweli Development and the Ministry of Irrigation.

The objective of this programe is expected to increase the rice production for the local and foreign market, while eliminating the decline in the food production experienced during the recent drought situation prevailed in the country.
