Srilanka Airlines Board Rejected Rs. 10 Million Bonus To CEO Suren Ratwatte?

The Srilankan Airlines suffered a financial loss of Rs28 billion last year. While the current financial status of the Srilankan airline said to be perilous, a board paper reported to have been presented to pay staggering 10 million bonus to its Chief Executive Officer Suren Ratwatte. He is an ex-pilot and happened to be a brother of Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister Charitha Ratwatte.
SriLankan Chairman Ajith Dias had informed the board that the bonus should be paid based on terms and conditions in the contract signed between the airline and the CEO, when the latter was hired.
However, the board paper has been turned down by the board of directors considering the current financial status of the state-run airlines.
