31 Hambantota Protesters  Further Remanded

Thirty-one suspects including MP Prasanna Ranaweera, Western Provincial Councillor Upali Kodikara, Southern Provincial Councillors Sampath Athukorala and Major (Rtd.) Ajith Prasanna were arrested  in connection with the protest in Hambantota have been further remanded until 13^th November by the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court.

They were produced before Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne this morning (30).

They had been arrested on charges of unlawful assembly, causing damage to public property, injuring police officers, obstructing their duty and violating a court order after they participated in the Joint Opposition-organised protest opposite the Indian Consulate in Hambantota on October 6.
