Avant Garde Maritime Claims Rs 2.4 Billion Damages

The ship allegedly owned by Avant Garde Maritime Services was acquired by the Navy on the 13th of November 2015.
Avant Garde Maritime Services has filed a case at the Colombo District Court alleging that the Sri Lanka Navy forcibly acquired a ship owned by the company, which was engaging in maritime security services. This step has caused Avant Garde to incur a loss of 2.4 billion rupees.
Chief of Defence Staff Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Former Navy Commander Admiral Travis Sinniah and current Navy Commander Vice-Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe have been named as respondents in the case. Avant Garde Maritime Services requested the Colombo District Court to order the respondents to pay the loss incurred by the company.
