JO Assures Support for Free & Fair Local Government Election

Member of Parliament Dinesh Gunawardena stated the Joint Opposition would support the Elections Commission to carry out its duties to hold a free and fair election. He noted that it is now clear the election will be a fair one void of corruption or wrongdoing.

Wherever nominations were rejected, political parties and groups can be expected to file cases. Hence, objections have been raised by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna over the rejection of two nomination papers due to some shortcomings.
