Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake while speaking at a function in Colombo said that the new programme to send fines directly to residences will be trialled from next month.
He said steps will be taken to offer additional benefits to Traffic Police in order to ensure the fines are handed over.
He noted, when traffic regulations are violated the incident captured with the use of new technology and cameras, claiming fines can be issued with evidence directly to the relevant individual’s residence.
Minister Ratnayake added they will commence a trial programme in February and will be deploying a picture along with the fine.
