Election Commission to Issue Gazette Confirming Selected LG Councillors

Additional Election Commissioner Saman Sri Rathnayake said , Party General Secretaries are required to submit to the Election Commission, the names of the nominated members to local government institutions, thus enable them to issue the gazette notification indicating the names of councillors for each council.

Once the gazette notification is finalised, the Elections Commission will inform the respective political parties in writing about the number of elected female representatives for each party and names of councillors for each council.

Meanwhile the Secretary to the Ministry of Provincial Council and Local Government , Kamal pathmasiri said, the first meeting of all councils will be on 2 nd March 2018. Further he said , training course for newly selected members of the council will be arranged and conducted.
