In the early morning (27), a group belongs to the majority community visited a Muslim shop in Ampara attacked the shop owner and damaged the shop. Even the Jummah Mosque located near the shop came under attack.
On learning this incident Minster of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen, contacted Ampara senior police superintendent and chief police officers and urged them to take immediate steps to control the violence and provide special protection to those who were affected by this incident.
Followed by Rishad’s requests police took prompt action to bring the situation under control and provided security to people in vulnerable areas.
