Govt. to Fix Maximum Price For Glucometer & Stripes

The government has proposed to fix maximum selling price for Glucometer  machine and stripes used to measure the blood level in diabetic patients.

Gucometer  stripes packet of 25  costs  approximately Rs 1,500 and the glucometer machine at Rs 2,500.

However, these items are sold at high prices ranging from Rs2,000 to Rs2,500 and from 3,500 to Rs 5,000  for stripes and glucometer respectively.

Having considered  the difficulty experienced by diabetic patients, the government has decided to fix the maximum retail price for these two items, said Minister of Health, Rajitha Senaratne.
