United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein is due to deliver a special statement on Sri Lanka at the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council today (21).
The Sri Lankan delegation dispatched to represent the country at the 37th session of the Council, is led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Marapana and also includes Minister of Special Assignments Sarath Amunugama and Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Mustapha.
The delegation also includes officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Attorney General’s Department, the Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms, and Sri Lanka’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva.
The delegation is expected to inform the council of the government’s efforts taken to safeguard human rights and foster national reconciliation in the country.
