Vesak Poya Day will be on 29th April. Vesak week will commence from 26th April and continue up to 2nd May.
Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs Nimal Gothalawala Gedara said, that various religious events have been organized Island wide.
The Government has allocated Rs 19 crore for special religious and charitable programs across the country.
The official government Vesak festival will be held at Bingiriya Rajamaha Vihara on 28th April. President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe are scheduled to participate in this event.
