SLPP to Sue Investigating Units, Certain State Medias and New York Times.

The Srilanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will institute legal action against the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Srilanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Associated Newspapers (Ceylon) Limited in respect of a series of alleged defamatory stories, which erroneously claimed that the China Harbour Engineering Limited had in 2014 provided US$ 7 million to former President Mahinda Rajapaksha’s Presidential election contributions.

SLPP Chairman Prof.Peiris told a news conference in Battaramulla  yesterday (2), that the SLPP would first institute legal proceedings first in Colombo and then  in the United States for the similar defamatory allegations.
