Preliminary Steps Underway To Establish Passenger Shipping Services between Sri Lanka and India

Initial steps are being taken to start passenger shipping services between India and Sri Lanka.

The chief of the Indian High Commission’s Defence Capt. Ashoka Rao has arrived in Talaimannar recently to look into the matter. The captain has discussed this matter with the Talaimannar Naval personnel.

The Indian government is in the process of initiating the passenger service from Rameshwaram to Talaimannar.

Srilanka had already discussed the matter with the Indian Prime Minister during his last visit.
