Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne says bus fares will not be increased in line with the overnight hike in fuel prices.
The decision was reached to refrain from increasing prices as a bus fare revision took place in May this year. Since the government and bus operators agreed to refrain from increasing bus fares over the next two years there won’t be any increase now.
Meanwhile the All Island Three-Wheeler Drivers Association said a final decision on whether charges will be increased will be arrived at this evening.
Chairman Sudil Jayaruk said the matter will be taken up for discussion at an Executive Committee meeting that convenes this evening.
