(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – The Presidential Secretariat has issued an Extraordinary Gazette officially announcing the appointment of the Leader of the United National Party (UNP), Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the Gazette Notification 2101/40, confirmed the appointment of Wickremesinghe as the country’s Prime Minister with effect from Sunday (16).
President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister through powers vested with him under Article 42(4) of the Constitution.
