(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – Author Shakthika Sathkumara, who was arrested and remanded under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act, granted bail by the Kurunegala High Court today (05).
Sathkumara was released on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and 2 sureties of Rs. 100,000 each by Court, and ordered to report to the Polgahawela Police Station on last Sunday of the month.
He was arrested under the ICCPR Act following a short story published on Facebook which allegedly contained defamatory content against Buddhism.
