(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Minister Mangala Samaraweera has denied claims that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had declared himself as the Presidential candidate of the United National Party (UNP).
The Minister made this remarks at the premises of the Enterprise Sri Lanka Exhibition in Jaffna today (07).
“The statement published in today’s newspapers as well as on social media is a fabricated news which planted by “Prodabhaya Rajapaksa,” Minister Samaraweera stated, adding that this was another failed attempt by the same.
“When over two-thirds of the party’s Parliamentarians call for Minister Sajith Premadasa to be the Presidential candidate, “Prodabhaya Rajapaksa” has shown the crumbling nature of his fraud campaign by making such absurd statement, the Minister stressed.
There were reports that at a meeting with a group of UNP Seniors, the Premier had stated that he will definitely contest the forthcoming Presidential Election.
