Pakistan’s Major General arrives in Minneriya to watch final mock operation
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – As the ongoing ‘Cormorant Strike – 2019’ reaching its climax, a day ahead of the final mock operation, Major General Hussain Mumtaz, General Officer Commanding, Special Service Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Army and the Defence Attaché of the Pakistan High Commission visited the ‘Exercise HQ’ premises at Minnerya yesterday (22) and received a comprehensive briefing from the Exercise Director, Major General Laksiri Waduge and other Senior Officers, engaged in the Exercise.
Major General Hussain Mumtaz of the Pakistan Army has arrived here particularly from Pakistan in order to receive a firsthand experience and meet participating Pakistan Officers in the Exercise.
The joint Tri-service Mega Field Training Exercise (FTX), ‘Exercise – Cormorant Strike X – 2019’, one more notable annual project of the Army kicked off for the 10th consecutive year with 2400 Army, 400 Sailors and 200 Airmen, including 80 plus foreign military participants and observers from 10 countries on Wednesday (4).
With those foreign military representatives and observers from Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Russia, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and Zambia, the Exercise got off launching mock operations using special operational tactics with those 2400 Infantrymen, including largely the Commandos, Special Forces and Mechanized Infantry Regiment troops of the Army, 400 Sailors and 200 Airmen.
