(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Election Commission has directed the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to conduct an inquiry over the presence of President of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya at the launch of the election manifesto of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
In a letter, the Secretary to the Ministry of Health has been requested to conduct an inquiry into the incident, ask for his explanations, and report the outcome to the Election Commission as the Doctors and Staff Grade Officers were not permitted to participate in such political activities.
