An individual and the trishaw they were travelling in were taken into Police custody, in Yakkalamulla police division yesterday (3), during an investigation conducted by the Police acting on a tip-off they had received.
Police have been informed that these individuals had parts of the endemic plant Wallapatta in their possession. Police have seized 1 kg 20 g of Wallapatta in the suspects’ possession.
The suspect is a 49-year-old resident of Imaduwa. He will be produced to Galle Magistrate today (3).
Yakkalamulla Police is carrying out further investigations into the incident.
