Mahinda Deshapriya informs of intention to resign

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya has sought approval to step down from his post.

Deshapriya has made the request to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the request has been conveyed to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

However, the Speaker, as the Chairman of the Constitutional Council, has proposed that Deshapriya continue in his post.
