In the weekly press conference called yesterday to inform Cabinet decisions, where Minister and
Cabinet Co-spokesman , Rajitha Senaratne said only the court can decide on arresting Gotabya. in
answering a question by press, he said either he or Minister of Justice cannot determine the arrest of
Gotabaya ,but only the court. Present Gotabaya after the war is different from that of war led
Gotabaya. I objected all wrong activities of Gotabaya after the war.
In answering another question from the press on Avant Garde, regarding conflicting views expressed by
members of the Govt, he said that 3000 weapons in Avant Garde ship were not registered. To enter
Srilankan maritime waters, they have to take approval from the Srilankan Navy. But approval was not
granted to Avant Garde. Avant Garde informed Srilankan Navy that they would berth in Colombo Port
but berthed in Galle Port.
Further, he said that in any ship GPS monitoring device operations cannot be stopped. But Avant Garde
ship while passing Maldives maritime waters stopped operation of GPS monitoring device. This matter
was brought to the notice of the President by Minister Champika during the cabinet meeting held on last
Wednesday (11.11.2015).
There are several such controversial issues on Avant Garde , hence difference of opinion among
members, he said
