Another 216 houses are currently being constructed. 571 families residing in high risk zones within the Aranayake Divisional limits are also due to receive houses. Families who wish to build their own homes will have the plot of land examined and funds disbursed accordingly. A number of houses were destroyed and several deaths were reported in the landslide in Aranayake that was reported on the 17th of May 2016.
