Govt. Cancels May 1st  Holiday

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs  J.C. Alawathuwala has announced that the May 1st will not be a holiday.

Instead May 7th was declared as a public and mercantile holiday.

As May 1st falls within the Vesak week, the government decided to celebrate May Day on 7th May.
