Second Phase of the Colombo-Kandy Expressway will Commence Very Soon

Minister Lakshman Kiriella says the second phase of the Colombo-Kandy expressway will commence very soon. Speaking to reporters in Kandy the Minister said the segment of the expressway from Meerigama to Kurunegala will be constructed by 4 teams of local contractors and said the relevant agreement was also signed recently.

He said negotiations are continuing with a Japanese firm for the construction of the third phase. Minister Lakshman Kiriella says the government during its short tenure has undertaken several projects without credit.
