Thundershowers expected in several areas today

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) –  The Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Southern and Northern provinces today with heavy showers above 100 mm expected at some places.

The Met Department said fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected elsewhere.

It added wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times over the island, particularly in the western slope of central hills, North-Western, Southern and Western provinces.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
