Budget Second reading passed by 159 votes.
The second reading of the appropriation bill 2016 was passed yesterday at the Parliament with 159 votes in favour, 59 against. 13 MPs including former President Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa were absent.
The JVP Parliamentarians voted against the Budget while a significant move was that a majority of Tamil National Alliance MPs voted in favour of the Budget.
The vote on the second reading commenced yesterday around 5.30 p.m.
The final vote on the 2016 Budget will be taken up on the 19th of December.
