Political Obstacles to relese Political Prisoners – Sampanthan

Law is not an obstacle to get political prisoners released. I have to speak on this serious matter.This have created mistrust among our people.Some people keep on telling that  their release will be  a challenge to National Security. I hope government wont give in to this forces. Prosperity of the country depends  on reconciliation. North and south should get together and work  for the prosperity of the Country.At times  this house is politically misled.This Government appeared before the   United Nations  and stated that prevention of terrorism Act  is cruel and it is against international laws.Further they stated  that it  cannot be accepted  . But to date Prevention of  Terrorism Act was not repealed , why?  During the  years 1988.,1989,JVP revolted against the state  by taking  arms to their hands and attacked even Police Stations and destroyed them.They were pardoned and  released under common  amnesty. JVP as well as former Army Commander wanted political prisoners be released. Why the government is reluctant? Leader of the Opposition Sampanthan spoke on these issues in Parliament while making  his  speech yesterday on  the second  reading of 2016 Budget.
