All promises during the election will be fulfilled

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa assures that all promises made during the Presidential Election will be fulfilled within the next three years.

Therefore, the President requested the public to continue to place their trust in him.

The Head of State said he informed the Cabinet of Ministers, Members of Parliament, and regional members to work towards fulfilling the tasks promised to the people and also called on all parties to refrain from levelling petty criticism and discouraging the public.

The President expressed his views during the opening of the second phase of the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala, the Athugalpura Entrance, last evening.

President Rajapaksa said the country’s incomes depleted due to the coronavirus, stating that vaccinations must be carried out to ensure tourist arrivals increase.

The President said millions of lives are lost to the coronavirus in developed countries and urged the public to obtain the booster vaccine dose, by disregarding various claims circulating pertaining to the booster shot.

The President also pledged that farmers will not be forgotten claiming a cultivation era will be created.

President Rajapaksa also vowed to uphold the votes he garnered at the election.

President Rajapaksa stated while 6.9 million people voted in favour of him, 5.2 million individuals cast their vote against him at the Presidential Election.

The President added this group is spreading false propaganda to mislead the public and are levelling various criticism.

President Rajapaksa said despite the many challenges the government provided many concessions to the public.

The President claimed the salaries of state sector workers were not slashed during the COVID-pandemic.

President Rajapaksa said he met with businessmen of large companies in the country, adding that they informed him that they generated large profits in 2021 unlike ever before in history.

The President said the government promised to uplift local manufacturers, adding that with the ban on imports, a shortage of goods will be reported for a short period.

President Rajapaksa also highlighted that the decision to suspend the use of chemical fertiliser was a tough decision that was reached on behalf of the people.

The Head of State said citizens in Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura have many ailments related to kidney diseases and cancer.

The President requested farmers to place their trust in him, despite the delays, adding they will be addressed as he is a leader that represents the people.
