Trade unions launch an island-wide hartal for the next eight days

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – “We are launching an all-island hartal starting from tomorrow, April 20 to 28,” said Ravi Kumudesh, President of the Federation of Health Professionals on Tuesday, April 19.

Over 300 trade unions are expected to participate in the strike, he said.

“All trade unions, trade union collaborations, government sector trade unions as well as trade unions from the private sector, and semi-government trade unions will be taking part. Almost all trade unions are taking part,” said Kumudesh.

Kumudesh also added that they are keen on the hartal not hampering services provided to the public, especially in the health sector.
