“Steady supply of medicines must be prioritised”
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says the government has prioritised the steady supply of medicines, as medicines have a significant impact on public lives.
The Minister said the programme of ensuring a medicine shortage does not arise, is a considerable responsibility unlike stop-starting road construction.
The Minister was speaking at a programme held at the BMICH yesterday(17) in line with ‘World Patient Safety Day’.
Minister Rambukwella added solutions can be provided to certain issues related to medicines while ensuring it does not lead to the loss of life.
He noted that enforcing a system change is a difficult task and vowed to take all possible steps to ensure changes are enforced.
The Health Minister further said it was discussed that attention must be paid in the health sector by all stakeholders.
He noted that the health sector is not related to an economic issue, and is a practically driven sector.
