President leaves for Japan on an official visit
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Sri Lankan delegation have left the island for Japan.
The President was accompanied by Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Staff to the President Sagala Ratnayake, Director of Sustainable Development Randula Abeyweera, Director of International Affairs Dinouk Colombage, Director of Media Shanuka Karunaratne, and Private Secretary to the President Sandra Perera.
During the visit, President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida and high-ranking officials of the Japanese government.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe is also scheduled to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Shinzo Abe, Japan’s longest-serving Prime Minister, was shot dead on the 8 of July, at the age of 67, at a campaign rally for his political party.
