“The economy has gone to seed under the current government” – Sunil Hadunneththi

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Sunil Hadunneththi stated that under the current government and its “good governance” the country’s economy has gone to seed. He further questions what use is it if democracy blooms amidst a failing economy.

The MP further emphasized that in the light of recent incidents it is evident that institutions that manage the economy such as the Central Bank and the Customs department are not yet free from the meddling of politics making it impossible for them to function in a manner benficial to the country.

Mr. Hadunneththi also stated that it has been over 5 months since the ascension of the current government and that they have yet to approve a single proposal or bill regarding economic development.

The MP shared these ideas at a meeting at JVP headquarters in Battaramulla today (28).
