Higher education will be promoted with the help of Private Sector – Kiriella

Minister Lakshman Kiriella said ,higher education will be promoted with the help of Private Sector,whose investment is appreciated.

Out of  students sat for G.C.E.Advanced Level Examination ,only 20 percent qualified to proceed with University education.

Our government intends to obtain the cooperation of the private sector to improve higher education.Everyone will be given opportunities to pursue higher studies.

Already Minister S.B.Dissanayake has taken steps in the past to established  branches of foreign universities in Sri Lanka .

He proposed to give additional autonomy authority to universities and  Vice Chancellors.

Minister Lakshman Kiriella stated to the media.that Higher Education Minister SB Disanayake has been involved in making necessary laws . However, university students organizations and other parties of the opposition are  against establishing branches of  Foreign Universities.
