MSD protection for Provincial Politicos

Several provincial politicos who pledged their support to the candidacy of President Maithripala Sirisena have been provided with security from Ministerial Security Division (MSD), Political sources states.

Accordingly, Asath Sally, Hirunika Premachandra, S. M. Marikkar, Mano Ganesan and Prasanna Solangaarachchi have received MSD security.

The MSD have been designed to provide security to Ministers of both cabinet and non-cabinet ranks and in certain instances for parliamentarians as well, sources stated.

Speaking to fast news National Unity Front (NUF) Leader and Central Provincial Councillor Asath Sally stated that he was given police security as he constantly condemned the opposition and that his life was in danger. “There are several web sites that are against me,” he stated.

Adding further Mr. Sally stated that it was former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse removed providing MSD security.
