“I am ready for Bandula’s challenge” – Dr. Harsha de Silva

Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva has accepted the challenge given by Ex-Education Minister Bandula Gunwardane on the fresh international sovereign bond issue. Mr. Bandula Gunawardane stated this bond issue had been made at an interest rate of 6.1 percent.

Adding further stated that it was the highest interest rate offered in a bond issue in the history of Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, Mr. Bandula Gunawardane challenged either Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake or Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva for a public debate on the economic impact of this bond issue on any media.

Hence, Dr. Harsha Silva stated that he was prepared for it. “I will explain what kind a mess they have created and the consequences faced in dealing with the decisions taken at that time. It will have massive consequences for so many years .What we do is to resuscitate the economy from this mess. I will explain what the new government has in store,” he stated.
