Indian Foreign Secretary in Srilanka Today

Indian Foreign Secretary Subramanyam Jaishankar will arrive in the island today on a two day official visit.

Foreign Secretary Jaishankar is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Secretary to the Ministry Foreign Affairs during his visit.Tamil representatives have also expressed their willingness for a meeting, but is yet to be confirmed. The main purpose of the visit is said to beto pave way for the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission meeting in Colombo in February.

The Commission meeting will be attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Swaraj is also expected to visit Jaffna ,where she is likely to declare open the Indian-built Duraiappah Stadium.
