Another New Largest Blue Sapphire found in Srilanka

Sri Lanka’s previous record for producing world’s largest blue sapphire has been terminated by another blue sapphire found from Elahera area.

He claimed that the gem weighs some 2800 carats (Around 485 grams). The owner of the gem is reportedly a person from Beruwala. The value of the gem has not yet been calculated.

However, another Sri Lankan gem trader who owns a large blue star sapphire earlier said that has decided to sell the dazzling stone, with a dizzying asking price of US$300 million. The gemology institute in the capital Colombo has certified that the gem weighs 1404.49 carats.
