Demarcation Gazette to be issued in April 2016

Gazette notification on the demarcation of electoral boundaries in local government wards will be issued in April 2016,said Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faizer Mustapha.

Chairman of the Delimitation Commission, Asoka Peiris, has been informed to complete the demarcation of boundaries before April 2016,he said.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo today, the Minister also said that the Local Government election is due to be held in June this year.

He added that the government has no intention of holding the LG polls under the previous system.
