Stranded Fishermen in int. waters return to SL

A group of fishermen who were stranded in international waters for over 10 days aboard the Doni Multi Day Fishing Vessel reached the shores of Sri Lanka on Monday, June 1, afternoon safely.

The fishermen were towed to the Nilwella Fishing Harbour at around 12 p.m.

They left for their trade on May 10 aboard the Doni Multi Day Fishing Vessels and 8 days later, their vessel’s engine did not function properly. Strong winds and currents had carried the vessel into international waters accidently.
