Farmers Island wide said to have complained that there is a fertilizer shortage throughout the country and merchants have hidden their stocks. They are selling them at higher price than the price fixed by the government.Merchants in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts are selling fertilizers at increase prices.
However,Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake has denied any such shortages and said legal action will be taken against merchants selling stocks at exorbitant prices.
