Conflict within Srilanka Muslim Congress (SLMC)

A.R.A.Hafeez brother of Rauf Hakeem resigned from his Parliamentary seat under National list recently. In place of him MS.Thoufeek was appointed.

News leaked out, that with the appointment of former Deputy Minister M.S.Thoufeek under  the National list,senior Members of the Party were preparing to leave the party.

Rauff Hakeem maintained that Thoufeek was appointed to promote Muslim Congress Party in Trincomlee District. But Party supporters expected the appointment of General Secretary Hassanali or former Minister, Basheer Sehudawwoth should have been considered. General Secretary Hassanli said, there was no conflict within the SLMC as stated in press.Further he said, that he will never leave the party. There is a group spreading wild rumours regarding this, he said.
