Arjuna Claims Rs 1000 Million Compensation From Thilanga

Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga has sent a Letter of Demand, through his lawyers, to the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Thilanga Sumathipala, seeking Rs 1,000 million as compensation for allegedly insulting the former.

Immediately after the election of Office bearers for Srilanka Cricket, Arjuna said  that Srilanka Cricket has gone to the hands of Business Mafia, which disturbed Thilanga.

Issuing a statement, the Minister says that Sumathipala had made defamatory comments regarding him at a press conference on January 04 after being elected to the Presidency of SLC.

Ranatunga also claims that he has had to face baseless allegations and disgrace as a result of the comments made by Thilanga Sumathipala.

The letter of demand states that the Minister will proceed with legal action against the SLC President, if the latter fails to pay the sum of Rs 1,000 million within 14 days of receiving the letter.
