Former Embilipitiya ASP D.W.C. Dharmaratne Arrested by CID

The former ASP of Embilipitiya Police, D.W.C. Dharmaratne, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in connection with the recent death of a youth during a clash with police in Embilipitiya, sources told Media.

According to Police sources, the suspect is reported to be questioned by CID right now, regarding the death of Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena followed by a clash between the police and residents.

On January 27, the Embilipitiya Magistrate instructed the CID to arrest the suspects including the former Embilipitiya ASP and the Headquarters Inspector (HQI), S.R.J. Dias, in connection with the incident.
