Retiring Northern Province Governor Palihakkara

H.M.G.S.Palihakkara was appointed as the Governor of the Northern Provincial on 15th January 2015 by Maithripla. News leaked out that he has tendered his retirement paper to take effect from the end of February 2016.

Reginald Cooray, former  Chief Minister of Western Provincial Council and an SLFP member tipped to  replace Palihakkara.
