We, Joseph Mickel Perera and myself have worked hard for the UNP and deserves to be appointed as National List Members of Parliament. But we were overlooked. An outsider was brought into the UNP National list. This is distressing and unjustifiable. The decision to nominate Sarath Fonseka in place of deceased Gunawardene was not taken by the UNP Executive Committee but by the Cabinet. Female representation in Parliament should be increased, all politicians stress. I lost my parliamentary representation because I happened to be a female. She revealed these views while giving an interview to a Colombo Press.
