Thotalaga amicably settled (Update)

Thotalanga issue has now been amicably settled by Minister Champika Ranawaka proposing to appoint a committee.

Madampity,Thotalanga turns a battle field.When Urban Development Officers along with police went to remove unauthorized structures in Thotalanga, residents of that area  resisted.Followed by this battle  ensued between the Officials and the  residents, traffic block is experienced near Victoria bridge.Vehicles plying between Negombo and Colombo are diverted  through Wattala,Hekitha along Alakanda road to Colombo,Police said.

Affected people blocked the traffic on Thotalanga Japan friendship bridge and demonstrated. Ajith Rohana DIG Colombo north  negotiated with the demonstrators. They agreed to lift  blockade temporally  up to 1200 hrs today. In the mean time,affected residents were advised by  Ajith Rohana to take up their plight with the Government and resolve their accommodation issue.
