Land Ministry Portfolio to Thilak Marapana ?

UNP National list MP cum Former Law and Order Minister,  Thilak Marapana who resigned his post to avoid conflict of interest of his status as a layer  appearing on behalf of Avant Garde,tipped to  be appointed as the Minister of Land, which post became vacant following the death of M.K.A.D.S.Gunavrthana.

Yahapalana Government is planning to distribute 1 Million plots of land to landless Srilankans. To tackle legal issues that may arise in identifying suitable land and distributing them, an experienced legal knowledgeable person should be the Minister of Land, many in UNP high circles felt.

Although a decision is reported to have been taken to appoint him, Ministers,MPs and others in the Government said to have express their disagreement and objections.
