Five Buddhist Monks from Sandalankawa ,Anuradapura opted to under take a pilgrimage to Sripada wearing civilian clothes and not on robes.
Hatton Police on patrol duty in Kudagama area stoped the vehicle in which all five monks were travelling and subjected to check. They detected Ganja packets from one of the monks.
Followed by this incident all five monks were arrested by Hatton police. Police took steps to produce the monk, who was in possession of Ganja packets in Hatton Magistrate Court.
