Sri Lankan Tamil asylum seeker detained by UK authorities
UK immigration officers have detained and are in the process of deporting Sri Lankan Tamil asylum seeker, 22 year old Janahan Sivanathan.
Janahan was horribly tortured as a school student during the war. His Lawyer has submitted new medical evidence on the 1st of June.
The Home office’s own guidelines say that victims of torture should only be detained under exceptional circumstances.
Janahan is at high risk of suicide considering the trauma he has gone through and his mental health is deteriorating by the day while being kept in detention.
